The name mother lover came to me years ago when i still practiced in NYC and my own children were very young.  One day i was pondering the explictive ‘mother fucker’ and all the weight that this phrase holds in our culture - this was during a time when my experience of motherhood was coming online as a part of the work i wanted to do, and perhaps was meant to do, in the world.  Immediately, i called for an antedote, a way to break the spell of this mother fucker culture that i felt pushing in all around us.  The right medicine came easily and swiftly, at least by name, and the idea of mother lover and a culture that holds mothers with reverence and care was conceived inside my heart.  This idea was the seed of my own tiniest of tiny cultures being born within me - the seedlings of which i bring to you today, at least 8 years after the idea initially burst into me.  Gestation has her own timing..

Over the course of a full year we will walk an winding alchemical path towards our individual and collective becoming.  Together we will be turned by the wheel of the year through seasons, elements, celebrations and ritual to access the wisdom alive and well in the embodiment of our Earth Mother. Our work will be to weave our own stories - the sacred and mundane expressions of life as an embodied mother - into the rhythms of nature herself.  We will embark on this journey as mothers, as hopeful cultivators of tiny local culture, and as aspiring wisdom holders, for future generations of all children and in service of healing forward and back.  

This offering is for mothers of all ages and stages with a desire to be held and holding collectively instead of all alone in the fog of mothering in modern times.
